At Rougemont, we place a huge emphasis on our ‘STEAM’ subjects, or Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths, in order to promote a different style of learning, and opportunities for our learners to explore, challenge, reflect and grow.
Spearheaded by Miss Burdett, ‘STEAM’ has allowed us to come together as a whole school community, sharing different pathways and careers that are STEAM related via parents and past students, as well as the introduction of skills through new projects and initiatives such as F1 in schools and Prep Point of View Podcast.
Wednesday evening saw Techniquest host the National STEM Teaching and Learning awards. Nominee Miss Burdett, was accompanied by Mrs Pritchard to the event, where Miss Burdett won an award in the category ‘Excellence in STEM Teaching- Primary’. Miss Burdett was absolutely thrilled to get Rougemont on the map for all the hard work of our teachers, and children who have been promoting STEAM in their classrooms.
