Junior School Art work – Years 5 and 6
During our current period of online learning, the Junior pupils have been busy creating incredible artwork at home.
Year 5 have started a project based on the colour wheel, learning about the interesting ways in which colour can be used in art. They have investigated the work of Claude Monet to understand how warm and cool colours are used in painting, and they have also explored the work of Andy Warhol to inspire their own Pop Art. All of the colourful pieces of work have really brightened up a wet and dreary January! Year 6 have been creating self-portraits in various styles; using the vibrant and cartoon style of Julian Opie and using a range of experimental drawing techniques.
I have received many messages from both parents and pupils to say how much they are enjoying creating their own artwork at home, and it makes me very happy to see them throwing themselves into the tasks I have set.
I would like to say a huge ‘well done’ to all of our Year 5 and 6 pupils! We definitely have some wonderful young artists here at Rougemont, and seeing your work has really lifted our spirits!
