YEAR 4 – OLYMPIC ACTIVITIES WEEK

From Petanque championships to designing their own Nike sneakers, it’s been a fun week for Year 4 pupils.

Discovering all 33 sporting events in the Olympics was a fun activity to start the week followed by a viewing of the London 2012 Opening Ceremony.

Year 4 hit their target of completing the Daily Olympic Mile in under 23 minutes, too!

Pupils also studies the spirit of the Olympics through learning about athletes Jesse Owens and Louis Zamperini.  In a video about Jesse Owens, pupils witnessed Owens’ German rival helping him qualify for the long jump in the 1036 Olympic Games. A wonderful example of excellent sportsmanship.

And of course, Year 4 created some super Olympic torches.  Great original designs sharing their ideas for the engineering aspects of their torch, explaining how it would be powered and the flam kept alight!
