Keeping children safe is at the heart of everything we do at Rougemont.
We want every child to feel safe, valued and listened to. If a child shares a worry or tells a member of staff that they have been harmed, or are concerned about their own safety or the safety of someone else, we have a responsibility to take those concerns seriously.
Staff will pass this information to our Designated Safeguarding Person, Mrs Sarah Howell-Jones, so that appropriate support and guidance can be considered.
In some circumstances, it may be necessary for the school to seek advice or support from Children’s Services or other safeguarding agencies. Wherever appropriate, we will keep parents and carers informed about this process, unless we are advised that doing so could place a child at greater risk.
When concerns are shared, our role is to follow the All Wales Safeguarding Procedures and work with relevant agencies to ensure children receive the support they need. This process is not about making judgements about families; it is about helping to keep children safe and promoting their wellbeing.
The welfare and best interests of the child will always be our primary consideration.
We are committed to working in partnership with parents, carers and external agencies to create a safe and supportive environment in which every child can thrive.
